I look forward to Emily Cheeger's development over the coming years. As she hones her songwriting chops she's going to be a formidable presence on the contemporary scene; and I hope that's international, not just domestic. Her choice of instrumentation is especially welcome in a scene overcrowded with bleating guitars. In sharp contrast I find nothing interesting about Manna. She sounds like warmed-over Joensuu 1685 who themselves are recycling British noise merchants from 15 to 20 years ago. Somebody hit the snooze alarm. Vuk is the most underrated on the list.
