70vierailijaa – Remixes

The debut of Helsinki band 70vierailijaa was a delicious piece of Finnish pop that sweetened the long and dark winter nights. Now Holy Feather publishes an EP of remixes that propose an interesting twist to the band’s songs, with a very danceable approach. The EP includes four new mixes done by three experienced Finnish remixers: Arto Koivisto (aka Little Bitchard & LB), Antti Nykyri (aka AKB), Christian Thomas (aka Crux). Have a taste of them after the break. More

Underdøgs -Signs

Helsinki band Underdøgs have toured the local scene (and occasionally Tokyo)  for a few years with multi-layered epic songs. They have a little bit of Radiohead and a little bit of Muse as every other band nowadays. But Underdøgs also produced beautiful videos to illustrate their sonic journeys. Click to watch their latest one based on 3D animation.

Them Bird Things – Underground

Them Bird Things

In the autumn of 2009, we were fans of Them Bird Things debut album to the point of almost being shameless groupies. Less than a year later, the Helsinki band has recorded a new batch of songs by unsung sixties heroes Steve Blodgett (on the photo) and Mike Brassard. The album, Wildlike Wonder, will be out in August, but Underground, the first single, can already be heard on the band’s MySpace and purchased on iTunes. The lineup was augmented by the arrival of two new members, bassist Jarmo Vähähaka and multi-instrumentalist Arttu Tolonen who will help to recreate the rock, folk and psychedelia mixture of Them Bird Things. Accompanying the single, there is a new video beautifully shot by Lawrence Dolkart. Enjoy the song and the cross-dressed band after the break. Watch those legs!
