Hard rock bands like Bydwellers seem to have gone out of fashion a few years back when indie took over the world. Fortunately there are still artists willing to deliver some high energy rock’n roll, and that is pretty much what Bydwellers do on their first single: a fast in-your-face hard rock song. The cosmic, psych, retro, kraut hard rock of Death Hawks started to take control a little over one year ago when the band release its debut album. Now it’s time for the big invasion with the release of a new single and video that will make you aware of the humanoids taking control. Party like it’s 1988. Helsinki band Freeweights is inspired by The Smiths, Bobby Brown and Prince to create danceable pop music without limits. Formed in the spring of 2012, the song Healing Time is their calling card, in which they claim their love for analog synths, springs days, girls, boys and melodies.
Watch an excellent video by synth-pop band Streak and the Raven. It is an elegant and intense track, creating a melancholic atmosphere. Speed of Light is included in the band’s debut album Love & War due in late February.
Stockers! is a four-piece indie band set to break through in 2013. Last year the band released a fantastic debut, in which you can find the song below. This is the opening track and starts the album with a bang: bright fast guitars, uplifting rhythms and a final one minute epic coda with the right amount of “wow-oooh” phrasing. A truly catchy tune. By the way, at the end of last year a bunch of journalists and bloggers selected Stockers! as one of the most promising Finnish acts in 2013 as presented by national radio YLEX and music magazine Rumba. So, expect to hear and read much more about them in the coming months.
